Studio 16 Dance Center began as Karie Horton School of Dance in 2011. “I began living out my young adult dream of owning my own studio many years after college, marriage, and having kids. I always wanted to be a dance teacher. My husband, Robert, magically transformed our garage into a beautiful, quaint little studio, which was the dance home for 17 girls for only one season. After that we moved into our next location where we remained for the next 8 years, taking down every wall possible over the course of that time. In the spring of 2020, another dream became a reality when we officially changed our name and broke ground on Studio 16 Dance Center by Karie Horton. Over the years, God has blessed us with such wonderful dancers and dance families, and I am honored to provide them with a dance studio like no other!
I am proud to say that I have stayed grounded in my beliefs that dancers should be taught the technique and artistry of dance no matter what genre they take. I place a lot of emphasis on self-respect and appropriateness in everything encompassing my studio, and it is always my goal to portray that to every dancer that walks through my door. In a society that poses many challenges for children, it is my goal to provide an atmosphere where dancers know they are valued, loved, and accepted. In everything from costumes, music, and teachers, to classroom management and encouraging words, I strive to provide excellence in a way that every dancer, parent, and grandparent would be proud of.
Studio 16 Dance Center is my dream and could not be possible without the dedicated support of my family. My husband, Robert, attends to all things business. My daughter, Haylie, has grown up as a dancer and has now taken on the role as our studio and business manager. She keeps me organized. Without them, none of this could happen. My son, Blake, will do anything I ask, including playing his latest role of Elvis in the recital. Over the past 12 years, every single dance family has blessed us in some way. I would consider it an honor to serve your family through the joy of dance!”
